Calibration of thermocouple temperature probes is a necessary component of the proper monitoring of thermally sensitive processes. When this process involves the removal of the probe from the process vessel, safety issues arise. Many times the temperature probe is installed in a location that makes its removal difficult or even impossible. Access into tight spaces may be limited. Obstructions may cause access difficulty. Many times the probe is located high above the floor level, requiring access by a ladder.
The Remote Probe Transport System (RPTS) answers the question: "How am I going to remove that temperature probe to calibrate it every month without someone getting hurt?" The system is designed to allow a technician to access difficult to reach temperature probes from a comfortable and safe location.
A system of stainless steel transport tubes allows the technician to pull the probe from the thermo-well to a conveniently located access panel by a cable. Once calibration is completed, the probe is returned to the thermo-well by pulling the cable in the opposite direction. Various fittings and straight sections are combined to create systems that will route a probe around virtually any obstruction and into extremely tight places. There is virtually no limit to the number of turns the probe may have to take before reaching the thermo-well.
